W Sydney Redefines Luxury in Darling Harbour

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - In an architectural marvel, W Sydney has officially opened its doors, redefining luxury and vibrancy on the shores of Darling Harbour. This addition to the W Hotels brand, part of Marriott Bonvoy's global portfolio, promises to be a sought-after destination for both travelers and locals.

George Fleck, Vice President and Global Brand Leader of W Hotels, expressed his excitement, saying, "W Sydney marks our W Hotels brand’s triumphant return to Sydney, a long-awaited addition to our robust portfolio in Australia. W Sydney will cultivate a new cultural and social hub in the vibrant Darling Harbour precinct, celebrating Sydney with bold and energetic 'Whatever/Whenever' service ethos, dynamic design, and immersive programming."

W Sydney stands out with its striking design, rising gracefully above Darling Harbour. Designed by renowned Australian architectural firm Hassell, the hotel's interiors were crafted by London-based Bowler James Brindley. They artfully reflect Sydney's history, spirit, and lore. The design narrative revolves around 'the larrikin,' an iconic Australian character, giving the hotel a luxe yet unconventional atmosphere.

From the moment guests enter, they embark on a design-led journey. The copper-clad entry pays homage to Sydney's subterranean heritage, and the Living Room reinvents the traditional lobby as a vibrant social hub with a 'Future Noir' theme. The 588 guestrooms, including 162 suites, embrace the hotel's harborside location with a marine-chic aesthetic. Bathrooms feature deep oceanic blue, and walk-in wardrobes incorporate bursts of inflorescent red and pink Waratah flowers.

W Sydney's culinary scene is equally dynamic, featuring four new dining and bar venues. BTWN offers urban night food markets, and Living Room highlights Sake and Soju with Asian small bites. 29/30 is a two-level bar with stunning harbor views, while the WET Deck (pool) bar evokes an underwater world.

AWAY Spa provides an idiosyncratic yet restorative space, designed by Bradley Eastman, with circular pods for beauty treatments and a socializing bar. The FIT Gym and WET Deck offer wellness and relaxation amenities, and the 30-meter infinity pool is a visual delight with its giant jellyfish motif.

W Sydney also caters to business travelers, offering 1300-square-meters of event space, including the 592-square-meter pillar-less Great Room on level five.

Craig Seaward, General Manager of W Sydney, summed it up, saying, "W Sydney reimagines luxury for a new era, creating a vibrant new scene for Sydneysiders and visitors to the city. It’s a complete departure from the city’s traditional hotels, and this unique W spirit is something you feel at every touchpoint."
